Notes: This is what happens when you vid Lee's point of view for two months. This was a very experimental vid for me--it's more an associative exploration of a feeling, a certain point in the history of a relationship, rather than an exploration of all aspects of that ship. I played more with canon and with transitions than I usually do, and kind of just let my emotions lead me. It proved to be wonderful therapy after Some Time Around Midnight. For me, at least. For the rest of you, well, I don't know many people watching this show but if you feel inclined to watch pretty girls be epicly tragic at one another...

Ahh, yes, got it! In that case, I don't think I'm very good at homework at all. :) I think I get more success floobing around on the timeline and waiting for pretty accidents to happen. :D

Floobing is freeing! (Especially after two months of slaving over every goddamn tweak in 'Midnight'--that one did NOT come easy.)

But yeah... I remember sitting in dualbunny's Structure Panel and being fascinated by what everyone said but thinking to myself 'ha! I just fling stuff onto the timeline haphazardly and shuffle it around until it comes good' The longer I keep vidding, the less structured my initial approach becomes. Probably because I find it so much more fun that way. :)

I have learned to embrace a more freeform process as well, but I find it doesn't always work for me. I need a certain amount of planning and structure to feel comfortable, because apparently I'm just that anal.

Floobing is still the best word ever, though.

That makes sense! I have this theory that one reason it works for me is it circumvents my critical voice a bit. Since I have something to keep my logic brain busy with while I'm vidding (finding the narrative, sometimes even what the vid is about, as I go) and since I'm enjoying watching the accidents happen, there's less space for criticism. When I plan, I tend to spend so much of my time arguing with myself or worrying that it's the wrong thing I can become crippled. I still wouldn't ever freeform my way through an entire 'big' vid though, probably--at some point I'd definitely impose and lock down a structure.

And arguing can be useful too, of course! :) supacat is trying to get me to understand the difference between my logic brain arguments and my emotional self-slamming 'this is all shit, you're all shit' stuff that often seems to accompany it. Difficult! :( But I'm trying! And meanwhile floobing off away from either of them when I can, as in this vid. ;)
