Title: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
Fandom: Smallville, Oliver Queen (Green Arrow)
Artist: U2
Spoilers: to mid season 9
Access vid: via direct download (90MB) or streaming at YouTube, vidders.net (once cleared) or Blip
Credits: With heartfelt thanks to [livejournal.com profile] supacat, who has wanted an Oliver vid to this song for years: I finally made it for her. She also betaed it more times than I can remember, so it's kind of her baby as much as mine. I'd also like to thank the Vividcon audience for being so receptive to the vid and to clarify that Oliver is BOTH the guy with the dark, angsty redemption plot and the guy who can't find his pants. And therein lies his appeal! *nod nod* [livejournal.com profile] talitha78 gets a special mention for being the only person to mention Batman to me so far.
Lyrics:
You don't know how you took it
You just know what you got
Oh Lordy you've been stealing from the thieves
And you got caught in the headlights of a stretch car
You're a star

Dressing like your sister
Living like a tart
They don't know what you're doing
Babe, it must be art!
You're a headache in a suitcase
You're a star

Oh no, don't be shy
You don't have to go blind
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me

You don't know how you got here
You just know you want out
Believing in yourself almost as much as you doubt
You're a big smash
You wear it like a rash...star

Oh no, don't be shy
It takes a crowd to cry
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me

They want you to be Jesus
They'll go down on one knee
But they'll want their money back if you're alive at 33
And you're turning tricks with your crucifix
You're a star (Oh child)

Of course you're not shy
You don't have to deny love
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me
(orgasms to fade)

Yeah, I have to say I've been really frustrated with Oliver's plot when watching Smallville week by week, but when I rewatched it in isolation (skipping the A and B plots of each episode most of the time!) there actually was a LOT more subtelty and continuity in there than I'd remembered, and I really feel like they had some great content there that was well worth teasing out and showcasing. Sometimes Smallville just flails around and doesn't know what it's doing with its cast: who it is focusing on when.

his pretentious little plans and attempts to make his intentions mysterious and everything
HAHAHAHA that's such a good way of putting it. *hearts his pretentious little plans so much* I can see why people find him annoyingly arrogant but I think there's such humility underneath that I always just find it endearing (largely thanks to Justin's capacity to play for comedy as well as emotional poignancy).
