HEE! I've heard a lot of buzz about this vid and I'm so happy to see it up! :D YAYYY!! I had to watch it quick before I run off to bed, but I'm sure I'll re-visit it often. ;)

It's just awesome and fantastic and sexy hot and Guh. Perfect song and your editing is just so sharp and fun. And YAY for Ollie love. Hee!! The boy just seems to lose his shirt so often, and you played with that fact beautifully. ;)

(and heh, he is SOOOO Smallville's Dark Knight, or Batman-lite as I like to call him. And as a diehard Bruce/Lois shipper that takes a lot for me to say. ;)) But he is a fun and very welcome addition to the cast in my book, and his chemistry with Erica is off the charts!

I'm sure if they had actually been able to have Batman on the show it would have been a whole other amazing layer of awesome, but I do appreciate that they can play around with some similar themes with Ollie. Plus Justin just puts so much into his work and I really appreciate it. Watching him and Erica together is always spectacular because they're both so classy and high calibre actors and steamy as hell, oh yes!

I've no idea why but I'm not going to question it!!) And dude, there is SO MUCH good Oliver material in Season 9. There's some stuff that annoyed the hell out of me (there always is in SV) but if you sift it for the bits you like, it's a world of awesome. This is like a wonderful condensing of all the excitement Oliver brings to the show. I love him to pieces, but even I get a bit blah with the disservice he sometimes gets that his episode to episode angst never seems to get enough fresh light, so it frequently feels like a retread. But this is a lovely reminder!

Plus! Oliver's sneaky wooing of Lois to They don't know what you're doing/Babe, it must be art! Hee, he's so adorably silly with his pretentious little plans and attempts to make his intentions mysterious and everything. I also really love the starting section, with all of Oliver's gadgety-ness in all its upbeat glory, whee.

Yeah, I have to say I've been really frustrated with Oliver's plot when watching Smallville week by week, but when I rewatched it in isolation (skipping the A and B plots of each episode most of the time!) there actually was a LOT more subtelty and continuity in there than I'd remembered, and I really feel like they had some great content there that was well worth teasing out and showcasing. Sometimes Smallville just flails around and doesn't know what it's doing with its cast: who it is focusing on when.

HAHAHAHA that's such a good way of putting it. *hearts his pretentious little plans so much* I can see why people find him annoyingly arrogant but I think there's such humility underneath that I always just find it endearing (largely thanks to Justin's capacity to play for comedy as well as emotional poignancy).

Oh god, yes, Oliver and Tess are STEAMY. I always wanted more of them. It's weird, normally I would absolutely hate Oliver's multipartnering (is he canonically in love with four women? I THINK SO, YES), but from him/Justin it just comes across so incredibly sincerely that I really ship him with everyone (or just about). And yes, I know, there have been a lot of problems with Oliver's plot (I was livid when they had him explode Lex with the monkey bomb, even if I *do* reclaim it here) but as with all things Smallville, if you sift through the shit for the vein of gold it pays off!

What I find so fascinating is that -- coming from my Lex-centric love of early SV, without having seen the last few seasons -- Oliver really comes across here as Lex 2.0, in every possible way, AND HE KNOWS IT. And it's eating him from the inside, but no matter how he fights it, he just winds up reinforcing it.

I swear, between you and sisabet, I'm feeling seriously tempted to check out the last few seasons. If it weren't for my gut-certainty that I'd be disappointed (because there's no way the show could live up to these vids, it's just not possible), I'd be ordering them from netflix right now.

OMG I LOVE YOU! ((HUGS)) Thank you, yes, THAT. I'm so glad that came through to you (or to someone)--I really REALLY got into his Epic Angst about that while making this vid, which I think gets somewhat buried on the show because they shove his plot into corners in most episodes and then randomly showcase it occasionally without proper development. I will be honest--his plot is not as coherent as this vid makes out (I'm not being boastful--it's just Smallville, you know how it is), but there was some absolute GOLD in the Oliver plot in early Season 9 that sustained me with the show long after everything else had pissed me off.

The thing I really get into is that he becomes the man he destroys, and is painfully self-conscious about it, and that is just SO fascinating/sexy/angst-ridden in the best possible way.

Every time I watch this vid I fall in love with it a little more. You carry the narrative so well and everything is so transparent. The colors are DELICIOUS in this and it's probably the best argument I have seen in vid form to watch Smallville. Awwww, thank you SO much! I am so glad the colouring worked--I kind of went crazycakes with it, I know it's really over the top but I wanted that comic book aesthetic to be diled up REALLY high and I squeeed so much when people said that's how it came across.

CORRECT. What you also need to know is that he is naked MOST OF THE TIME. Seriously! I had to actually fight hard to find clips of him with clothes on! Which gives the strange impression that I was opposed to his nudity but as I explained to someone at the con, he's so objectified on the show with his shirtlessness that it actually throws you 'out' of the character in the vid--whereas I wanted to really draw people in to his world and perspective--i.e. I wanted subjectification/empathy not objectification. However as a viewer most of the time? I'll take the objectification, oh yes I will. :D Cassidy Freeman (who is a darling) once commented that Justin (who plays Oliver) is 'what girls are like on most shows' and apparently has a long-suffering attitude towards his constant nudity: 'You want me to be shirtless AGAIN? REALLY?!'

I love that you showed the importance of both Lois and Tess to Ollie. Wow, I almost forgot how he really kissed the hell out of Lois. Blasphemy or not, I loved those two together. When I started I honestly wasn't sure how I would manage to juggle Oliver's many women but it happened really organically. I also had to give in to my massive Lollie shipperness and confess that I just want them to be together FOREVER AND EVER OMG. But Ollie can bring sexual chemistry with anyone and he uses his powers for good! He's Michael-like that way.

I would have soooo loved you to have been there, but there was (alas!) no dancing possible as this played at premieres not Club Vivid (I'm still too chicken to submit to Club Vivid, which I think of as 'where the cool shit gets played'). I tried to restrain my own fidgety excitement and foot tapping in my seat though! Luckily it was all dark and no one could see how much I was smiling.
