So I finished all nine episodes of Season 1... Did they just explode Cameron?!! Aiieeeeekkkk! Noooooo! My favourite new character cannot go pfft! That is BANNED. Especially not when she's been sent out to buy birthday cake. (I found them sending the cyborg killing machine for cake ridiculously charming!)
I thought 'Vick's Chip' was a great episode--very creepy, with lots of interesting material to reflect on where Cameron is concerned. I like the way she fits in the show because she's not the only one whose motivations are called into question. Sarah and John are constantly second-guessing what they should or shouldn't do as well--the path to stopping the future is never clear and while Cameron's way is brutal, it might also be their only chance. I like that paradox. And like John I want to trust Cameron. But for that reason I'm also wary of her: she's seductive, and potentially unpredictable. But I found her having her chip removed really confronting--especially since we know that she was moved by the death of the other terminator.
And now she's 'sploded?! Nooooo!! They must do some time-jumpy business to get her back. *nods*
Oh, and I loved the scene where John went to see his wee!father play baseball in the park. That was gorgeous. I think John's shaping up as my second favourite character because his longing for family seems so palpable and because of his trust in Cameron.
The other Cameron scene I loved was the 'no, it belongs to the guy I killed and stuffed in the trunk' scene. *facepalm* If she comes back, they really need to do some more house-training.
So what happened with this show? It got cut short because of the writer's strike, is that right? But there's a second season on the cards? But not officially yet?

I hope the show gets picked up. I know the ratings aren't perfect, but it's getting better and better, it deserves another season.

Date: 2008-03-11 12:29 pm (UTC)Can't wait for next season! Yay!
Incidentally, I noticed at my local Best Buy that Terminator 2 on Blu-Ray was only $17.99 -- but yet the original Terminator was $25...? Makes me wonder if they're going to come out with a super-ultra-mega version of T2 on Blu-Ray, hence the cheap price on the bare-bones edition. Still, I might pick it up anyway. T2 is a movie that hubby and I have in literally EVERY incarnation - VHS, laserdisc, laserdisc special edition boxset, DVD, DVD special edition boxset -- haha! It used to be his system test movie for a new sound system -- before The Matrix came out. :)

Date: 2008-03-12 12:22 am (UTC)Yeah, it's interesting. I think Sarah's reactions to her as the closest to how I would actually be around her--and yet I find myself feeling sorry for her when Sarah is curt or intolerant of Cameron saying unfeeling things. Cameron creates such fascinating tension in the show because we're torn between wanting to trust her and being worried about her motivations. She's such a mystery! John's instincts could be right--after all future!John trusted her too, yes? But then again...
I can imagine T2 as a system test movie. ;) But yeah, I think we'd be due for a re-pack boxset maybe? I'm ashamed to admit I don't own any of them--but I'm now driven to do so, or at least rewatch. ;)

Date: 2008-03-12 12:17 am (UTC)Crossovers! Ohhh... yes! I'd love to see how the humans responded to the 'Cylon but not Cylon'-ness of Cameron. In some ways she feels like an under-evolved Cylon, actually.

I'm not ashamed to admit I might have teared up a bit on that scene. It was amazing and I think they did a great job hiring the kids.

Pretty much yes to all of these. I do hope it comes back though and I hope Cameron's coming back. I'm going to be living in denial that she didn't explode ;-)

Date: 2008-03-12 12:26 am (UTC)I think the park scene did a lot to make Reese's character more sympathetic to me. I didn't warm to him much at all until then, but hearing him speak about fighting to stop the world burning really helped define his character. As the older of the two kids when it happened, I think his character makes a lot of sense. And I can see why he'd see Sarah as a bit 'weak' (if 'pure'!) in comparison. I think Sarah will prove him worng though.

Just yes with this. I could not agree more. I was kind of eh about his character until that moment.
I think Sarah will prove him worng though.
She better!
