Friday Night Lights 4.05

WOAH. That was one of the most powerful hours of television I've ever seen.

I know I've got no emotional distance from this episode because I identify strongly with Matt's family situation and emotions, but ... wow! I was expecting something MUCH more saccharin. Something good, but much more sanitised. I'm so impressed they really went there.

SO MUCH LOVE FOR MATTY! SO MUCH LOVE. And oh, when he grabbed that spade I felt the relief physically. Wow.

I really want to write on this ep, so warning of lengthy praise-y rambling to come when I am less wiped.

Right dude, after it was over I was just so emotionally SPENT that all I could do was sit there in awe of Zach Gilford and idk WEEP MOAR!
It was sooo immensely powerful, he owned every second and yeah. The whole episode just blew me away. So yeah, agreed, a damn good hour of television *nods*

I can't wait to read your lengthier reactions. I had the same feeling of WOWness; at some point very early in this episode it just started to feel like I was watching a real person and not an actor working from a script. Zach Gilford was AMAZING!

You know how much I love "The Wire", right? This episode was right up there with the best of that show in its breathtaking reality and the way that they earned the emotions we were feeling. Brilliant stuff!

It was an amazing episode (didn't you mean season 4 instead of 3?). The bloody shovel handle was deep. I almost expected Julie to help him shovel, but she just waited, which is probably what was best for Matt.

The best line? "Hey, why did you have to kill Cobra's beer?" by Riggins

My heart broke for Matt. Litlle tiny, itty bitty pieces. Very powerful, moving ep. I could've done without a certain character or two in the ep, maybe, but overall, it hit all the right notes.
