So my life is somewhat manic at the moment and will probably remain so until April and possibly beyond. I apologise for being behind catching-up on my f'list--point me to anything important! *g*

A few very fleeting thoughts on various fannish matters:
-Smallville: Season 9? I think I just feel exhausted. Do they actually have anything left they can ruin? Oh wait. Yes they do.
- BSG: WTFUCKITY fuck? Srsly that show gets more batshit by the week. I tried a new tactic this week and pretended I'd never seen an episode before. It still made no sense but the characters were slightly more sympathetic and I really liked the Cylons. The humans were shit though and I wouldn't have tuned back in. *BG* Which brings me to...
- Law and Order UK: Thank god Jamie has another show! \o/ A show that actually APPRECIATES him. OK, they do have him playing someone markedly less well educated than he really is, but at least they a) showcase his looks, b) let him do action, c) have him onscreen almost constantly (or it felt like that in comparison to BSG!) and d) gave him flirty moment with Freema, who, hi, is a total babe and I am shamelessly shipping them already. :D I don't give a toss about the plot. I may watch with the sound turned down. It will still be more interesting than that stuff RDM is churning out.

Tomorrow is another high alert day for fires and there are still many around Melbourne. I think we're all holding our breath hoping against another Black Saturday. Please no.

I just cannot fathom what kind of craziness they're going to throw us in S9. Really.

(Glad to hear you're hanging in there! Hope job situation is working a-ok too.)

Thank you! Yes, my mind baulks at Season 9 as well. But I guess it will give Doom time to walk slowly back from the Arctic, right? ;)

Job situation is crazy--turns out resigning is really exhausting. But the deed is done! Now have a month to wrap up all my crazy projects to some kind of state I can pass to someone else...

Hee! Yes BSG was an absolutely brilliant show in Season 2 (and season 1). *remembers fondly*

The fires are still going but friday wasn't as bad as we expected. I hope we'll see the end of them soon.

I saw that. Reminds me of Charmed getting renewed year after year. (I really liked the first three seasons but it got repetitive in season 4 and I stopped.) I always figured the writers reacted to their renewal with, "Shit! Now we have to come up with another season's worth of recycled stories?"

Hee! Yes, I think you're on to something there. At this stage even the writers are exhausted. Well, the writers that haven't fled elsewhere....

Yeah, that's about it. Not much more you can say. My new tactic is to try and just laugh at it all.

Law and Order UK: Thank god Jamie has another show! \o/ A show that actually APPRECIATES him.

I'm really looking forward to this. Jamie and his actual voice, flirting with Freema, wearing awesome suits, and being a tough guy...yeah, I'm totally there.

Hope that even if you're busy it's a productive rewarding type of busy. :)

I tried laughing at it earlier this season. It sort of worked... sort of.

Jamie has to modify his accent still for L&O, alas! But it's closer to his real one, at least. And yeah, totally up for it. I may watch with the sound turned down because the plots are blah, but I will still enjoy it!

Definitely a productive kind of busy--lots going on--but I have that cut-off feeling that comes from having no time for LJ!

I honestly don't know what they can do for a s9. While I'm relieved they'll have more time just so they won't try to shove Clois together in the next 8 episodes, I can't imagine what can fill 22 episodes without breaking out the costume. :\

More fires? I'm so sorry. I hope things don't get worse. *hugs*

I know... I can't imagine either. No doubt they'll get Lana back again if they can. Which I would have been happy about until I saw her arc this season... bleugh.

The fires are easing, slowly.

I got very excited about this news yesterday. Then I actually thought about it and I can't imagine what they will do to fill up an entire season and not turn it into the New Adventures of Superman II. Which would be pointless.

Yeah... I can't even rally momentary excitement, which is sad. But I should remind myself that Smallville has a habit of bringing out a few awesome eps every season regardless of how tedious the surrounding ones are. So I should hang in there. ;)

I actually really enjoyed L&O:UK, but like all versions of the show it's watchable without being something you could ever get addicted to. But even if it was shit I think I'd tune in every week because Jamie looks SO DAMN HOT. He's even hotter than he is in BSG which I didn't think possible. I'm not loving Freema because I don't think she's a great actress, but they do look pretty together so I'm shipping them too. *g*

Yes, you're right--were it not for Jamie I wouldn't find it addictive. But with him, it's a must-watch. I think Freema has limited range but I've never really seen her in a role that required much range (I don't think this one does either) so it's not too big a problem for me. And yes, the pretty is overwhelming!

OMG ME TOO. Thank god I'm not alone. I was so worried that I was the only one who was thinking "ooh Matt/Alesha, yay!" I swear, someone needs to take away my shipper goggles before I watch a show. ;)

BSG: WTFUCKITY fuck? Srsly that show gets more batshit by the week.

Don't even get me started on this week's ep. I was so NOT interested in Starbuck's scenes. I actually fast-forwarded every part with her in it. OTOH, I really liked the Chief and Boomer storyline. And poor Athena, losing her child again (they really need to create safe words and implant a tracking device into Hera) and having to watch Helo and Boomer have sex. Which I had huge issues with. How did you NOT realize it wasn't Athena, Helo? I mean, seriously? SERIOUSLY?

Also, WHERE IS LEE? I am sick of getting episode after episode where he's only in one scene, and even then it's usually a forgettable scene (so to speak). Like [livejournal.com profile] taragel said to me, did we ever think that Special Snowflake Sam would end up being more central a character than Lee in the final episodes? ARGH! I'm never watching a RDM production ever again, that's for sure. *throws things at RDM* >:(

Hahaha, you crack me up, you really do! But you have GOT to stop spoiling me!! It takes me a day or two to psych myself up to BSG at the moment, and that's on top of being 24 hours behind already in getting a download... so I haven't seen it.

Not at all surprised to hear that Special-Needs Sam is still hogging all the screentime. I predicted that months ago. The writers never saw Lee as important at all. And RDM is a fucktard.

But let's talk Matt/Alesha...!! YES! I'm glad I am not alone. They are so very pretty. And hey, there was NOTHING else of interest going on in that show, what else can one do but ship?!

Date: 2009-03-01 04:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pali167.livejournal.com
OH SHIT. I spoiled you?! OMG I totally didn't mean to! I just assumed you'd seen the episode already! Oh my god, I'm so sorry! (It's all the flu's fault. (I'm sick.) It's making me forget to be "no spoilery discussion" girl until Sunday.)

But Matt/Alesha... YES. THEY ARE GORGEOUS TOGETHER. And OMG, they're not just pretty faces! Oh Jamie, why won't you love me, why won't you love me?! *pines* ;D

And maybe I'm just a sucker for procedurals, but I actually enjoyed the show. Of course, the actual lawyer/court stuff flew right over my head since I'm American, but watching them investigate (and Lee Matt look frakking gorgeous)? Totally there. I also really liked the dynamic between Matt and what's-his-face (the partner). But whatever. If Jamie wasn't on this show, I probably wouldn't be watching. *shrugs*

This made me think of your frustrations with BSG Boppy: http://www.slate.com/id/2213006/ Sounds like someone in fandom could have written it.
