Once again, Pushing Daisies provides me with a weekly dose of adorable romance, whimsy and word-play.

This episode won me over so fast it was ridiculous: Digby's journey back to Ned was impossible for a dog lover like me to resist. And they textually addressed the business of Digby knowing not to touch Ned! This is a smaaaart doggy! :D I love that he stopped to save someone on his way (he and Shelby should have a superdog showdown some time). Made of win was the slo-mo reunion scene, with the two of them pulling up short--it totally made me grin. And it gave a real insight into the heightened awareness of intimate distance that Ned has lived with all his life.

It's really nice to get straightened out that animals' lives are traded for the lives of other animals, humans for humans and plants for plants. At least that's what seems to be heavily implied. I'm not a big fan of pigeons (I belong to that group of people that consider them rats with wings) so I spent a lot of the episode thinking 'ewww!' while people touched it. But I did enjoy the plot the pigeon provided.

I like the little details in this show so much. For instance the aunts' fears that Charlotte would bake anti-depressants into their food coming true with her using the homeopathic remedies in the pies. I also liked her 'boy, you miss one trip to the morgue...' line as it feeds into that obsession she's got with tagging along and being 'in' on everything.

Jealous!Ned is a new kind of awesome! :D He hides it so very badly. *hearts* Favourite Ned dialogue of this episode: 'Everyone's a little jealous, I mean if you're not jealous you're probably... ... can we not talk about this?!' I thought the idea of not being able to 'catch' Chuck was a really great way to explore his jealousy. And having Chuck borrow the hand of another man gave voice to the fact that she was finding the lack of physical intimacy hard to bear. I'm glad she wasn't that smitten with that man though (not just because he was a lying jewel thief!) because I don't think I could bear to watch a broken-hearted Ned. The image of him smooshed up against the window in shock was as much as I could take. And thankfully comedic enough to enjoy! ;)

I'm also in love with his little dorky 'hero' moments, like the slide under the counter in the kitchen. And his cardigans. Love a man in a cardigan! :)

I liked Chuck and Ned's romantic angst in this episode--especially when punctuated by Emerson's pained exclamations. Because, yes, being in a car with them during that conversation WOULD be annoying. Even though they're ever so sweet!

I'm finding Olive a lot more bearable now that she has a less selfish aspect. She won me over by genuinely bonding with the aunts (yup, I even found them singing 'a little birdhouse' rather cute).

Is it contracted that that red-headed girl gets a bit-part on every major series at the moment? Because I swear it's about the fourth time I've seen her! I like her and all, but can't she get her own show already? I did like that her character was so bored in a mill that she let an axe-murderer in and gave him lip for the way he tied her up. *g*

Small shoutout for the morgue guy. I love that guy! Such a great recurring character.

Bonus: [livejournal.com profile] alissabobissa has a cute post on why Ned is yummy.

Jayma Mays? She must have a holding deal with ABC, she did a pilot for them called Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office that didn't get picked up and she's supposedly returning to Ugly Betty later on in the season. I'm sure that eventually she'll get her own show since they seem keen on putting her in as many shows as they can to keep her working.

Small disclaimer: I've given up on Pushing Daisies but I'm still trying to understnad what the fuss is about which is why wandered into this post.

That's her, yes. And yeah, they bbviously have a deal with her.

I think if the leads in Pushing Daisies don't sparkle for you or you don't feel the chemistry than the show's probably going to fall flat for you. I do see that it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

I was seriously worried for the squirrel. I actually break for squirrels. And I loved that Emerson was getting ready to run for his life (literally) again.

I wondered how long it was going to take them to figure out they can reach out to each other as long as they are sure they will make no skin to skin contact. Fanfic for this show should be interesting. ;p

You break for squirrels! Cute! Yes, I thought it was unfair that a pigeon's life be traded for a squirrel's and was glad it made an escape.

Fanfic for this show should be interesting. ;p
I KNOW! :D The only one I've read so far is [Bad username or site: http://oxoniensis.livejournal.com/330338.html @ livejournal.com]Five Ways the Piemaker Doesn't Kiss Chuck but [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis has written a few more since then that I'm keen to grab time to read. ;)

OMG, YES! And him feeling bad about it and needing to say "jealous" twice is too frakkin' cute.

I don't think I could bear to watch a broken-hearted Ned
Oh, no. Even at this point in my newly discovered Ned-love, I would completely fall the frak apart if he got his heart broken.

I'm finding Olive a lot more bearable now that she has a less selfish aspect
Yes, exactly. She's growing on me, and I'm finding I enjoy the musical numbers.

And thanks for the pimpage. :D Ned needs to spread the love around.

Me too! It's not allowed. This is my happy show!

Spreading the Ned love is a great cause.

God, me too. And the hiding it badly gets me every time - after that I'm hopelessly lost forever. *sigh*

This is my happy show!
As much as i love the angst, it just has no place on this show, or at least a small place that in no way disrupts the happy/cute/whimsical.

Me too! *clings* Dangerous waters! But yes, this show is all about the happy--a much needed respite from other angstier shows and ships. ;)

There was a dog plot? I totally missed that. I am watching the show every week, but once again I'm looking up mainly in the Ned/Chuck bits, and paying very little attention to the mystery plot. Even though I appreciate the whimsy (e.g. the windmills), I only find myself engaged by the characters, not by the plots. Though I am also watching the Olive and the aunts, because that is made of awesome.

And your icon completely rules!

There was! The dog bit was right at the start and it was gorgeous.

I watch for the characters too but I find the character moments are slipped into the plots so much that I have to pay attention. It's so pretty I don't find that hard. ;)

I have nothing to add, but to grin and nod to your post.
This show continues to surprise me and make me happy every week. ♥

lol @ "rats with wings"
I'm also not the biggest fan of pigeons - those on our main square always try to attack me.

Same here! Starting off with Digby is too smart and way too cute. I love how he's an actual character.

And yeah, Charlie from Ugly Betty AND Heroes is really starting to appear on everything. She needs to be in a cast.
