I don't have much to say but am posting for the simple joy of posting about Battlestar again... It took me a couple of watchings to get used to this whole Bill-as-a-young-man thing. I kept staring at him thinking 'you're going to become a cranky old man who's an asshole to his son'. On the other hand, it's kind of great to see him before he was leader of the new world. The behavioural resemblance to Lee is uncanny (and kind of freaking me out!). I wasn't a big fan of the chickie (her voice grated) but I liked that they played her as the more experienced pilot of the two. I'm unspoiled, so I have no idea where this is going, but it's amusing so far.

I thought the did an awesome job casting Young Bill Adama. He reminded me of Lee/Jamie and Bill/EJO. Which makes me wonder yet again how Michelle Ryan got cast in Bionic Woman. ;p

I agree that the actress was rather 'Eh'. I only know one element of this plotline and it doesn't involve her, but I have a sneaking suspicion she dies in combat. Maybe start setting up why Adama keeps his emotional distance from people, even his son? So they probably just went with a pretty face with passable acting skills.

I was pretty happy with the casting too, though I didn't see much physical resemblance to Lee/Jamie. But he looked like Bill/EJO and reminded me of Lee in his mannerisms.

Heh, that would work! And makes sense of why she wasn't a great actor.

...obviously I need to seek this flashback out!

Yes! Seek it! :D There is Adama sexing, though sadly not of the Lee variety. :(

I definitely did not like the chickie! Hopefully she will exit quickly, in a fiery ball of shrapnel.

It's funny, you're the second person to mention the resemblance to Lee, rather than to EJO! :0) It's pretty brilliant casting, actually. I'm just glad he wasn't around when they were casting Apollo, else we wouldn't have our beloved Jamie as Lee.

Maybe they should bring this actor back as Zak, and he can be the twelfth Cylon! *g*

Hee! Quite likely, methinks.

It IS! Though the physical resemblance was strongest to EJO, I felt his mannerisms and behaviour were quite Lee-like. Somehow once he opened his mouth, I struggled to view him as Bill... this is definitely a very early Bill incarnation that bears a stronger resemblance to his son than I was expecting.

Maybe they should bring this actor back as Zak, and he can be the twelfth Cylon! *g*
What fun! The Adamadrama that would ensue would be most enjoyable! *G*

Yay! It's so good to have it back, in whatever form. :)

Right! I'm just so desperate for anything. And it was definitely amusing in an Adama-boys-get-up-to-trouble-through-the-generations kinda way. ;)

I thought the actress was pretty awful (clearly cast for her looks) and young Bill wasn't the greatest actor but physically was perfect. I'm assuming it will get more interesting now that some of the exposition is over. :D But yeah, it was just FUN to see something happening onboard the Galactica...

Right! I think it will get better. It had a bit of a wooden feel about it, but then they don't have the biggest budget for these, I imagine, and I'm sure it will be interesting once the plot really kicks in.

Eee, I'm so glad to have some new BSG stuff even though, yeah, I don't think I have much to say about it! I kept wondering whether they added those mini-craters to the actor's face - does that make me a terrible person?? :)

It's weird how much I thought about this tiny little two minute flashback. I think my brain just craves a recap. *LOL*

Thought the casting was perfect for a young Adama and the mix/resemblence between Lee/Bill was spot on. IMO. Looking forward to seeing if that carries through along with other mannerisms/habits. It's embarrassing how much time I spent thinking about it. *LOL* I jotted some ideas of interesting connections I'd love to see made...but think I'll wait until we see more before I do much else. Two minutes flies by...unless it's commercials...then it drags. *laughs*

Mine too!

Two minutes is SO short. But I was amused that they decided it was important to set up his character in relation to a tall, bossy female pilot. ;)

Yep, I'm with you: just long enough to squee about, not long enough for any real meta or discussion. I'm unspoiled too so I'm totally curious to see where's it's going.

Though I think I'm the only person so far who doesn't think the actors looks anything like EJO or Lee or Zak...

I thought he looked like EJO and a little like Zak, but couldn't see any physical resemblance to Lee. But then perhaps that's just my Freudian desire to see Lee break free of the rest of the Adamas. ;) It was the actor's behaviour and mannerisms that made me think of Lee. (Also, apparently tall, dominant blondes are the Adama men's 'type'!)

I haven't seen the preview yet, but now I am very intrigued from a Lee Lee/development point of view. I have speculated before that Lee is probably more like his father than he is probably comfortable admitting and vice versa. Such complicated men.

Yes, I agree. Though I'm probably almost as chronically uncomfortable with that concept as Lee is! I don't want him to turn into his daddy! Hee!
