Dear Job

Please give me my life back. Specifically please stop anyone else from resigning! There's only so much a girl can take. And when the assistant I hired two weeks' ago is already asking me if there's a reason why everyone is leaving the company, it's time to draw the line!

No love
K

Dear US-TV

Why do you have so many shows?! Must I watch all of them? I feel like a moth being drawn closer to a dangerous flame... I'm ignoring my sanity and getting lured by the shiny newness. So far my plan is to watch:
- Smallville (duh!)
- Friday Night Lights (for it is still fresh and exciting)
- House (in no great rush but eventually)
- Heroes (reluctantly/resentfully and possibly only until I remind myself how bad it is)
- potential new shows? maybe? I feel someone should alert me if they're truly worthwhile...

Exhausted wave from sofa
Bop

Dear LJ

Ack! I may never be able to read my f'list in entirety again! *cries* Oh for the days when I had such things as 'lunchbreaks'. Yes, I'm being melodramatic, isn't that what LJ's there for?! ;p

Bop

Of the new shows Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl, and Reaper are the most watchable, I think. All majorly flawed, but I'm still intrigued enough. As for the rest, eh.

Pretty new icon! :D Those piqued my interest from the descriptions. Perhaps I'll dl a few and do a pilot marathon on the weekend...

Work sounds like a nightmare. You poor thing!! When should things get back to normal for you?

re tv shows: I am currently trying to catch up with Heroes (I have about 6 eps to go) and I will be watching House and SV. As for the new shows, I'll be Bionic-ed (for obvious reasons) but I think that's it.

I forgot Bionic! I think because it hasn't actually aired yet... I must Bionic. *nod* Though whether I watch it week by week or just wait and catch up later will depend on how enjoyable I find it. I do find four + shows is just a bit too much for me, what with all the meta-ing as well.

Mad Men is the only new show I've found worthwhile of being drawn to. I'm somewhat tempted by Bionic, but not nearly enough to add another show to my watch list.

I'll be checking out Bionic, but it may be one I catch up with later. Mad Men did sound intriguing but I only found out about it recently and I wish I'd watched it over the US summer when I actually had the time. LOL.

The only new show that has blown me away is Pushing Daises. Just pure beauty and a lovely concept and I adore the characters. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot. And I will still recommend watching The Office times infinity.

Cool!
I have seen the original UK The Office but I always find re-versions kind of weird... like watching something through a fairground distortion mirror or something.

But that is the perfect melodrama icon!

*Hugs* I hope things get better for you at work--that sounds really stressful.

I agree with you about the too much tv. I don't really know how I'm going to keep up with my regular shows, and I kind of want to check out Reaper, Pushing Daisies and Bionic Woman. But I'll probably be watching everything on the weekend, since every evening of the week I have work committments.

Date: 2007-09-25 11:17 pm (UTC)

Yeah, I think I'll do a lot of catch-up watching this season rather than watching straight away. SV's probably the only one I'll try and watch as soon as it airs.

Right now the main problem is that there are too many good shows! No matter where your tastes run, there is something out there to appeal to you and it's something that's probably better than everything that was on tv twenty years ago.

Heroes (reluctantly/resentfully and possibly only until I remind myself how bad it is)

Yes, thank you. I thought I was the only one who thought that Heroes is bad. I have gone into detail with the problems I have with Heroes' treatment of female characters before, so I won't get ino it again, but that still is my main complaint. That, and that Heroes is boring X-men rip off. IMO, of course. But now I have to at leats to check it out, due to Kristen Bell.

Oh, is she coming on the show? *rolls eyes* Great! They seem to be padding out their cast with every big name TV actor they can find... a cynic would say they're doing so because the rest of the show (dialogue, characters, etc) is so thin. ;)

Heroes (reluctantly/resentfully and possibly only until I remind myself how bad it is)

I know I'm being selfish but all I could really think about last night while begrudgingly watching 'Heroes' was that it was time for Boppy's incest commentary again which made watching much more enjoyable.

I really need to get the S1 DVD's of 'FNL' because it seems like everyone I know is in love with it and I'm starting to feel left out.

I'm not too excited about any of the new shows either. I'm sure I'll check out one or two ('Pushing Daisys' comes to mind) but doubt I'll really stay. :-(

Ack! I may never be able to read my f'list in entirety again! *cries*

HA, I feel ya. This is the first time I've responded to anything in ages. Why must we grow up and get jobs and be bosses and not be able to spend quality time on the things that we really care about?

Date: 2007-09-25 11:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com
Don't worry, I'll probably get sucked back into the incest commentary-ing anyway knowing me. ;) First ep is dl-ing at home so watch out!

YES! See FNL! It is wonderfully happy making even if I hate football. :D

Why must we grow up and get jobs and be bosses and not be able to spend quality time on the things that we really care about?
I have no idea but it seems very unfair!

I think you should watch EVEN MORE SHOWS to help you through the work craziness! I haven't seen too many of the new ones yet, but I like "Journeyman," which started yesterday, and a couple shows I like that started over the summer are Mad Men" and "Damages."

Dear Boppy's job,

Leave her alone. She belongs with us.

Dear American TV-shows,

Please don't cancel any of the new shows I'm watching. So far it's Cain and K-Ville (that one mostly because I'm from New Orleans).

Dear LJ,

I knoooow. Despite my insane work schedule at the moment, I squeezed it in the other night and I have such ambiguous feelings about this! On the one hand I do want to see what happens (sort of) but on the other hand I spend the whole time inwardly groaning.

I watched the Reaper pilot. It seems like it'll be worth watching. Anyway, the pilot was better than anything else Kevin Smith has directed since 'Mall Rats'.

Uh-oh, is Heroes bad? I just caught the premier this Monday, and... I sort of liked it. I mean it's no BSG or FNL, but it was diverting. Though maybe that was because I was busy trying to figure out what was going on. (I did check out the TWoP thread for the premier though and it was... interesting. I think I'm beginning to understand your phobia. ;)

I really enjoyed Reaper. It was funny, but with a dark undercurrent, the lead is appealing and the Devil is awesome.

Bionic Woman... um, Katee is really good in it? And it's great to see her getting lots of awesome reviews in the mainstream press, because that hardly ever happens with BSG? But the pilot was rather poorly written, which really surprised me coming from David Eick. At least I have a higher tolerance for bad sci-fi than bad anything else, and maybe it'll improve... You should check out the pilot though, maybe you'll have a different take.

I hope the work situation improves, that sounds really stressful!

Yeah, wait til that wears off and the comedown's kinda ugly. /bitter
Don't listen to me though. A stack of people I like REALLY like the show and normally I'd be all there for a big comic-book extravaganza like that. The show still hooks me in but it frustrates me as well. It's just all surface and no substance in my eyes... and it tries too hard, if that makes sense.

I did check out the TWoP thread for the premier though and it was... interesting. I think I'm beginning to understand your phobia.
Hee! Um, I've never gone there for Heroes, but if it's anything like the SV threads...

I managed to catch a bit of Reaper (underwhelmed) and a bit of Bionic Woman (embarrassed, though yes, Katee was excellent). I need to summon up my strength to watch the rest of the pilot but that lead chick was making me wince. ;)

As you can probably tell I'm not at my most tolerant entertainment-wise at the moment. I blame the work stress! Can BSG come back? :(
