Vid recs: BSG

It really is vid-watcher heaven at the moment--I can't keep up! Waah! So many vids to rec! It's hard to avoid watching just one more before posting... but I've already accumulated a considerable number of BSG vids to rec. Some of these are new, some older ones I uncovered in the quiet hiatus. All of these contain S3 spoilers unless otherwise mentioned.

First and foremost, you've all seen God is a DJ. Well now there's a sequel! Cuz I can. It's Starbuck, it's Pink, what more can you say? Apart from 'Eeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!' Go! Watch! Oh, and download the big version if you can: you'll want it. ;)

canadiangirl_86's Don't Forget Me
is an ensemble vid with a particular focus on Kara, Baltar, Six, Tigh. It explores the idea of destiny and the way these different lives are interconnected.

Another spectacular series overview vid is tallullah71's Sunday Bloody Sunday. It explores the way that both Cylons and humans are caught up in a cycle of conflict. Action vid love!

Also in the action vid field is brokenmnemonic's Just Like You Imagined--again, this is a wide-scale overview piece with lots of shiny explosions.

cherryice's Only is a sophisticated exploration of the Final Four and their internal psychology. It's both gorgeously edited and satisfyingly thinky.

anr's In the Worst Way is a pretty, heart-warming Lee/Kara vid from a Lee perspective. It's an unusual vid and one I greatly enjoyed.

And a Lee vid! \o/ Signal to Noise had me riveted. Lee character studies are rare and as someone struggling to make one myself, I'm fascinated to see how someone else approaches it.

At the lighter end of the spectrum is Let's Go Crazy, a collaboration between sdwolfpup and laurashapiro. It's a Gaius-focussed gigglefest.

And my other amusing find recently is jo_siris's Teenagers. I've been kind of watching out for someone to make a vid to this track, and it definitely fits with all that piloty misbehaviour--my favourite aspect of this vid is Laura's reactions. Hee!

Whee!! Thank you so much for reccing these. It takes me an inordinately long time to view vids (my computer refuses to play them, so I have to DL, convert and then transfer to my iPod - unless I lack the appropriate software in which case I have to get that too) so unless someone recs something, I won't ever know there's goodness out there!

*nods* Vidding is so time-consuming, I did sort of think that it would be one benefit of the hiatus. All the source content from the previous seasons is available and people have the time to plan and develop vids from it.

I thought the Signal to Noise vid was very good, very intense, though it had the flavour of a gen vid to me, despite having a lot of Lee in it.

It's really interesting you say that about 'Signal to Noise' because I had that thought myself, though I know it was billed as a Lee vid. I did wonder if it was the vidder's approach to contextualise him, and I can sort of see why--the weight of what's happened and the extermity of their situation does weigh on Lee. But I also think Lee's someone who's so caught up in his own head--that would be what I'd explore if I ever got off my ass and finished my own vid...

yeah, I see Lee as being in his own head too. The video was a real show of skill. And as a whole it does work. But my instinct was to notice the things that don't relate to Lee or that Lee has no intel or involvement with. Like anything to do with Baltar/headSix, Roslin's Cylon visions, the women stuck in the baby farms, Kara losing Kacey, the resistance on New Caprica etc. Which is why the vid feels like a gen vid. Unless it's supposed to be an AU type of vid, I've watched a few of those where a story is told and it's cut together from unrelated scenes to tell a specific non-canon story.

I'm still interested in seeing that. I know you have very specific views and a deep passion for Lee. I'd love the chance to see Lee through your eyes :)

Mmm, I had the same reaction. My understanding is that it was meant to be a canon vid rather than AU but perhaps I've misconstrued it.

I've had computer probs that have prevented me from vidding in the last month, but really it's also because I'm super-anxious now: I feel like I can't get away with being a hopeless newbie now and I have massive performance anxiety. ;) I hope I'll overcome it. I've been talking about this damn Lee vid for months! *lol*

Oh, thank you. Mostly I just feel flat and helpless. There really isn't anything I can do either way. But he's finally starting to adjust to the whole bandage-and-headcone scenario so that's making me feel a bit better.

But it may not have metastasized, right? If that's the case then kitty should be totally OK. Have they done blood tests yet to find out?

Yeah, it might not have. We had blood tests done at the time the tumour was removed and there were no signs of it having metastasized. However I got the sense from the vet that they were still cautious simply because toe tumours can be very nasty and if he's had one he may have another one. There was no sign of it in his liver or heart at this stage though. I think I will feel way better when his paw is healed--it's just taking a long time so that's making me feel like he is still 'sick'. It's so sad he can't go outside or do anything.

Thanks for the great vid recs. I love them all but (and I am nothing but predictable) I loved anr's in the worst way and signal to noise the best. In the worst way is just so atmospheric and the timing is just right. The song really suits the images too. It's been haunting me.

Wilson has survived the indignity of his vaccinations and is soon to take a trip to the mountains. He's quite the traveller now. I pack more stuff for him than I do for us though.

Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed the vids. 'In the worst way' was a lovely revelation. *g*

My kitty is not so good--we had it confirmed that the toe thing was a tumour and apparently toe tumours are quite nasty. Hope they got it all! That's all we can really do. He's having a miserable recovery--foot still very sore, so it's to the vets every second day for us. :(

'A long engagement' is very sad, yes. It was rather a strange movie I thought--not quite successful for me--the whimsy and the horror didn't quite tie together or something.
