Anticipation

I'm a bundle of jitters over here tonight. Tomorrow is my mother's sixtieth birthday and I've planned a big surprise for her. I'm not the best daughter in the world, but I'm hoping she'll really appreciate this. With the help of my grandma, aunt and cousin, I've booked a day trip for the Mum and I to King Island. King Island is off the north-west tip of Tasmania, a lush, isolated island in Bass Strait. It's famous for its produce--organic beef, dairy products (the King Island Dairy is renowned in Australia), and its seafood. The day trip is a flight on a an old DC-3 across to the island, a buffet meal at the best restaurant on the island and a tour of the dairy and other gourmet food spots. It's all very glam, with champagne on arrival at the airport and all that... I don't think mum has a clue what I've got planned and I don't think it's anything she would expect. I rang her earlier to ask her to dress warmly and comfortably, but smartly, and she seemed completely confused. Fingers crossed none of the relatives have let on! She has probably got a little suspicious about the lack of presents from the UK, but that's ok... as long as tomorrow comes off alright. *bites fingernails*
It's been a weekend of eating for me, with yum cha today to catch up with a pregnant friend (they're breeding--eeep!). By the end of tomorrow I fully anticipate I'll have put back on the three kilos I've been steadily losing over the last couple of months, alas! But YOU try resisting this stuff! Not to mention the to-die-for honey and cinnamon yoghurt. Mmmmm! :-)
Ok, I need to stop twitching and get some rest before the big day tomorrow... *twitches*

Date: 2007-05-20 10:48 pm (UTC)OMG, it IS!! Though very sadly they did not have a batch available for tasting at the fromagerie yesterday. Because they make 'em all-natural, they can't guarantee batches will work out every time. BUT we had South Cape Triple Cream Brie instead, and that made up for much! Also Surprise Cape Cheddar and the Toffee Caramel Cremem dessert--have you had that?! Eeee!! \o/

Yes! I nearly always have it for Christmas dessert, and I'm a big fan of frozen rasps + yoghurt of any sort.

Have a marvelous time!

God can I relate to that. Eeep! is a very apt reaction. *nods*

Thank you!! I'm glad someone sympathises. It is most unsettling. And it's not like I haven't been through it before (my first flatmate got pregnant while we were living together--quite the trip-out), but now it's going to be like dominos... one starts, they all start...
