I've just never felt like I've gotten to know Lois. She's just a personality to me, rather than a real person. Oh, that's a good way of putting it. That helps me see your point of view, and I can see how it's different for me a) because I feel like I already know Lois from having been a big Lois and Clark fan, and b) because the personality that they gave her is one I like/find attractive and innately interesting. But I agree that on the show we haven't really 'got to know her'. I think that's largely because of the restrictions on how many eps they can have her in. They really haven't given us much backstory or time to settle with her. And I see how that could lead you to be less sympathetic to her than the long-time characters like Chloe.
Thinking about the guy that Lex was when the show first started, I'm not able to connect the teen Lex with that Lex. Ye-es, although we are also supposed to believe that the Lex from first season is newly reformed--that he was 'bad' before he met Clark. We were never shown that though. I think I can see the continuity, but the violence--whenever it occurs--as always been a bit ott for me. But maybe that's just me not understanding violence, I'm not sure.
