Lana would have seen the whole thing and that would have gone to a really bad place that Lana's return to the show doesn't need to go to. Yeah... I guess I feel like they should have just not gone for it at all then, but I can see it's the show wanting to have it both ways--to hint at something between Lois and Clark, and to NOT have Lana's return be all about that. I guess all things considered, they balanced that quite well, yes. I think a lot of the unbalance in this episode could be alleviated for me in having Clark mention or miss Lois while she's in Star City. But having to wait until next year for that was a bit of a blow! (I didn't know it was the last ep for the year.)
