I think the island origin myth is canonical... I recall hearing fans saying Lex's island story kind of ripped off GA. But I'm going to read up and find out more. :)
At least Ollie didn't end up hanging out with a psycho projection of his fractured mind, though. And also, Ollie didn't actually eat the insect life on screen. :D
