OK, people!! Exciting announcement you did not know you were waiting for: I have found the Scottish lesbian melodrama version of Lee/Kara.

I downloaded the first episode of 'Lip service' on a whim because I was missing Skins. Yes, it really is titled that. I groaned too. I can't exactly recommend it, it's pretty trashy. But I'm now unable to tear my eyes away from the lead ship and the way their dynamic bears a striking resemblance to that of certain pilots. *facepalm* Ok, Katee and Jamie they are not, but at the same time ... well, I've made a picspam so you can judge for yourselves.

Meet Frankie.

She's a photographer in New York.

She also likes banging her clients (even the ones who--like this one--are engaged).

Now meet Cat. She's an architect in Glascow. (Side note for the astute observer: arty but in a much more disciplined way than Frankie. But probably not with so much flair. :p)

Cat is kind of... well, neat. She's very sensible and pragmatic and gives out lots of very good advice to her flatmate (who asks Cat not to lecture her so much).

But Cat is not as uptight and boring as she seems. She can kick ass when she needs to! When her phone gets stolen in episode 2 she runs after the kid who nicked it and wrestles it off him.

Thereby getting herself hauled in for assault. She defends herself stridently verbally, letting out a tirade of abuse at the police for casting her as the aggressor. She's very snarky and funny in this scene.

How are these two connected? We will soon find out! The first episode opens with Frankie (mid frak) getting some bad news from Scotland, where she lived as a teenager. Her aunt has passed away.

Frankie looks shaken on the phone call, but she quickly hides this from the chick she's frakking and resumes said intercourse. Ah, the Kara Thrace approach to dealing with emotional turmoil!

Later she drinks a bunch of vodka and stares moodily at old photos of her Scottish friends on Facebook. Among these, is a shot of Cat. She zooms in.

Frankie flies to Glascow for the funeral and gets picked up at the airport by Helo her male BFF (I forget his name, let's stick with Helo), who also happens to be Cat's co-worker. Frankie is workin' her best rockstar look at the airport.

At Helo's house she sees the same picture of Cat that she was staring moodily at on Facebook on his pinboard. And she steals it. It really is a pretty shot. Cat should relax more. ;)

Frankie makes Angst!Face at the photo, and (via Helo) we learn that Cat is her ex.

Frankie shows up at Cat's work (conveniently also Helo's work) and stands on a street corner until she sees Cat.

Check out how she lights up when she sees her!

Cat, on the other hand, looks like she's had the shock of her life and flees to the bathroom, hyperventilating.

She walks outside looking for Frankie but when she runs into her, she demands to know what the hell she's doing there. Frankie does her best to be charming, but Cat is still looking traumatised. She is angry that Frankie has turned up out of the blue with no phone call.

Turns out Frankie and Cat had been best friends. Cat was dating someone else and they hooked up, so Cat left the other woman to be with Frankie. Then Frankie bailed with no word--just one call three weeks later. Cat is, understandably pissy about this and points out Frankie's bad behaviour.

Cat storms off saying she has to go to a client's. Frankie, undeterred follows her and crashes the invite-only event. Cat is SHOCKED! But is secretly charmed.

That night, Frankie meets up with the rest of Cat's friends on the lowdown. She is--of course--the life of the party.

Cat is going on a date--her first proper one in ages (since Frankie left maybe? everyone wants her to get over Frankie). She is super nervous and her date is late so she calls her flatmate. As she's telling the flatmate to ring back in half an hour so she can make her excuses and leave if the chick turns out to be a dud, her date arrives and overhears her. Needless to say, it does not go well.

Cat, having flunked her date, turns up at the local looking for her friends and walks in to find Frankie... for the second time that day. She storms out. Frankie acts unperturbed.

Frankie goes to the funeral home to see her aunt. She's clearly really cut up about her death. Meanwhile, from Helo Cat has found out the true reason for Frankie being in town. She freaks out, as it turns out Frankie's aunt basically raised her. No one but Cat realises that Frankie is in grief as she's hidden it so well.

Cat takes Frankie out to the park to talk about her feelings (ha!). Instead they end up reminiscing about the old days as teenage friends together.

This quickly gets flirty and intimate, and Frankie says she's missed Cat.

She moves to kiss her because Frankie only really has one mode: FAST.

Cat is having none of it, demanding to know why she left so suddenly.

Frankie's answer being unsatisfactory (basically she doesn't want to talk about it), Cat storms off.

Frankie realises she blew it.

Frankie goes back to the funeral home and seduces (with great ease) the receptionist who she'd flirted with earlier. But Cat has left her wallet behind at the funeral home and walks back to find it. She walks in on Frankie frakking the receptionist (oh so tastefully!) in front of a dead body.

Cat runs out without Frankie seeing her and sobs her heart out.

Meanwhile Frankie bails on her chick as soon as she's finished frakking her, and when the chick asks for her number she says 'Take it from me, you really don't want it'. The way she pulls on her jacket and flees TOTALLY makes me think of Kara grabbing her dress and exiting after the Gaius!sex.

Episode 2! Despite their issues, Cat accompanies Frankie to the funeral. Frankie is late and as she walks up, she sneakily takes a photo of Cat when Cat is not looking. OK this doesn't seem like Kara at all to me but it made me 'awww'.

Frankie doesn't bother to dress properly. She says her family couldn't form a worse impression of her anyway so what does it matter. Cat is concerned.

At the wake, Frankie finds a photo of herself and her aunt when she was little, but she's been cropped out of the bottom of the picture. She attempts to speak to her family, asking them why she wasn't told her aunt was ill and her uncle tells her that they don't want anything to do with her and her aunt didn't want to see her.

Frankie gets drunk. Cat tries (and fails) to get her to slow down.

Frankie hits on Cat to mess with the minds of the disapproving relatives and Cat is shocked and asks her what the hell she's doing, then yells at her to stop.

Frankie's uncle manhandles her out of the wake, yelling at her that she's a fuck-up and does not belong in this family. Uh-oh, this sounds familiar. :(( Clearly this guy's been taking lessons from Bill.

Cat follows her out to try and comfort her.

But the exchange turns bitchy and she winds up snapping 'I missed you so much, I wonder why I bothered now'.

She instantly looks like she regrets it but doesn't say anything.

That night, Cat has a second date scheduled. Turns out the chick--who is a cop and who she ran into again when she got hauled in to the station for assault--is quite into her after all. Frankie learns of this impending date from Helo and despite Helo suggesting that tonight would NOT be a good night for Frankie to drop by and see Cat she does.

Even though they're mad at each other, they can't help laughing when they're around one another.

Cat tries really hard to keep a straight face. They quickly descend into bickering again and Cat points out that she's about to go on a date with someone 'honest and kind', which is what she wants now.

Frankie, pissed off, goes cruising for chicks. In a bookshop!

Cat goes on her date, this time more successfully and winds up taking the cop back to her place.

They have romantic kissy sex.

Frankie, meanwhile, has sex that is... well, like this. I note though that we have never as yet seen Frankie have an orgasm (though her dates scream the living daylights out of

Frankie is unimpressed when her chick wants to stay the night.

But not as unimpressed as she is the next morning when she wakes up to find the chick has taken off with her money and Helo's girlfriend's necklace. Oh, dear, that's what comes of picking up kleptos. :( Frankie contemplates her own messed-up-ness.

Meanwhile, Cat wakes up with her new lover, who finds the tattoo that Frankie persuaded Cat to get when they were together.

The cop says Cat doesn't seem like the tattoo type and Cat says someone talked her into it. When the cop asks who, Cat says 'no one important'. Aaaaaaaah the aaaaaaangst!!

So have I proved my case? :D The dialogue is even more screamingly Lee/Kara. Basically every exchange goes as follows:
Frankie: OMG, I'm awesome, LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME.
Cat: YOU BROKE MY HEART I HATE YOU.
Frankie: Pfft! But don't you see how I'm cute and hot and a total badass! Here, let me flirt with you some more.
Cat: I have principles! I remain firm in my OUTRAGE at your betrayal!
Frankie: OK, clearly that's not working I shall frak some chick or mention frakking some other chick.
Cat: :((((((

Gratuitous cuteness because I am smitten:

ETA: Judging by comments, my pimpage has been successful ... if anyone wants hooked up with source, let me know. ;)

*cracks up* You make a compelling argument! And, hm, possibly I do not ship Cat and Frankie for the same reasons I didn't really ship Lee and Kara? Interesting! (In both cases, I like them both but oh man trainwreck.)

So glad other people are watching this show, in order to revel in the trashiness with me.

aww, I'm not a BSG person but that looks rather adorable! In a trashy, approaching-train-wreck sort of way. I may have to look into this.
