I would have soooo loved you to have been there, but there was (alas!) no dancing possible as this played at premieres not Club Vivid (I'm still too chicken to submit to Club Vivid, which I think of as 'where the cool shit gets played'). I tried to restrain my own fidgety excitement and foot tapping in my seat though! Luckily it was all dark and no one could see how much I was smiling.

Well, no complaints from me if you are inspired to make another Oliver vid! But that icon happens to be the only Ollie one I have where he's by himself. (I've been kind of aniconic lately, and just using my default, though shirtless Ollie icons are always lovely. Like yours.)

Wow! As you already know, I haven't watched the show, only bits of it. But this vid is amazingly well put together. Brilliant! I love the song and you made the most of it here.

Your editing gets better with each vid, did I mention that? Oh, let me know when you're fed up with hearing it. But it's true. :P

It reminds me a bit of DLZ in terms of editing... maybe because there are many fast cuts there too. And you're obviously trying to play around with motion, which is thrilling to see. You're so good at it - the vid's literally flowing from one second to another and when it's over there's this sudden "have I missed something? I thought it's just started and the vid's already over?" in my head. I think your technique has gotten a lot more intuitive than it was in your early works that were clearly structured yet didn't have such creative spontaneous feeling about them. Of course, I may be totally misinterpreting what I see, 'cause I'm not that familiar with the source.

All in all, the vid's so much fun; it's shiny and sexy and original! It's the best kind of visual roller-coaster :-) Thank you for continuing to vid!

And btw, how did it feel to see your own work presented on a large screen? What was the audience's reaction?

Whee, it's posted!! Yay now I don't have to bust out my DVDs to watch. :D :D Like I told you at the con, this was immense fun to watch and is IMO your best in terms of motion. I think you did a good job of taking us through Ollie's story and showing how he ended up in such a dark place.

The Black Canary section at 1:08? Totally baited the shipper in me whether you meant it or not. Seriously, I got chills. :D :D But I have to say, the sexiest moment of the vid was probably the bit with Hawkman at 2:33. And that's saying a lot coming from someone with a complete lack of slash goggles.

The ending is also especially evocative. My favorite bit is the cut from the eyes closeup to "MURDERER" and then the shaky flashback montage. The mood is very "ME AGAINST THE WORLD" which is pretty reminiscent of Batman, so if you wanted to show the Ollie is SV's Dark Knight, mission accomplished. ;)

Oh thats a big "DURRRRRRRRRR" to me! I skipped the mandatory reading of vid info as I was excited by song choice & just assumed it was a Club Vivid entry.

I will try to be more vigilant in the future!

Thank you SO MUCH for such lovely feedback! I am pleased to hear I am improving. I feel like I make slow progress but I do try to grow with each vid in some way. The motion in particular is something I pushed hard in this vid.

You are spot on that I am far more intuitive now as a vidder. :) You are SO SMART! This is probably my most intuitive vid ever and I had to actually turn off my conscious mind for some of it--it was hard, I fought that quite a lot--but the vid was better for it when I did. I also had a learning curve on DLZ about that so it's not too surprising to me that you see a similarity with it. :)

What was most fascinating to me is that when I really tuned in to the vid and what it wanted to be it had its own life and it grew on its own terms--largely that was driven by the song, which is very powerful, and when I let that take me where it wanted to go everything improved.

I am not sure I can fully describe the experience of seeing it on a large screen with a big audience. I think it's not like anything I've experienced before or since. It felt like everyone was with me on a magical journey and they were all excited too. The roller coaster parallel is not far off actually--it was as if I'd built a roller coaster and then invited my friends and 100 other people to go on it with me! I was incredibly spoilt by the audience--I really won the jackpot in terms of audience feedback. Possibly part of it was that they knew I'd come from so far away? But I think a lot of people enjoyed it because it was upbeat and a good song. :)

*so blushy and thrilled* I have to tell you that your feedback at the con meant more to me than anyone else's. When you said my motion had improved? Internally I was all 'ok nothing else needs to happen now--I can go home happy!' Because a) I know you wouldn't bullshit me, and b) You have really high standards. :) I was thrilled!

I am SO HAPPY that the Black Canary section popped for you! I really did deliberately want to turn things up high with them. It was really hard because she couldn't be in the whole vid but I wanted to make sure she held signficant ground (even if Oliver is off being lost with others right now!). I kept asking supacat if it was too much but she backed me up that the vid could carry it. BC has such presence!

Heeeee re. Hawkman at 2.33! Hilariously you're the only person to mention that so far (presumably everyone else takes it for granted). And yeah, I couldn't resist. :p

Getting 'Murderer' in the right place was haaaaaard. Glad it worked! And that's exactly the feeling I was going for with the ending. :) YAY!!!
