He's such a sweetheart. I kind of want him to win too, just because that semi was so amaaaaaaaazing. I love Roger, but if he walks it in tonight, I'll be sad.
Totally forgot the Open was on. Another Feds/Nadal final eh? Isn't it like 43 degrees in Melbourne right now?? I hope it's a good match and that both play well despite that godawful heat. I for one would like the heat wave to stop now thank you very much. That sticky sweaty feeling has now lost all its novelty.
I love them both A LOT! I think Rafa and Federer both play terrific tennis.
BUT. I remember times when there were actually different people in different finales. Like the sand-specialists like Rios and the spaniards. And then the grass-guys or the hard-courters. When it was all a little more mixed up! :)
But whatevs, I sound like my grandma. :)
They play a great match!!! And i really should take the dog out because it's his usual time BUT TENNIS IS ON! Pets, they just don't get it... :)
Hee! I'm a bit of a fan of the running rivalry thing... also I love it when players try for a Grand Slam. I loved the Sampras/Agassi stuff, I love this too... though I do like how Wimbledon throws everyone off. (I get a bit bored by the clay courts though--such slow bouncing!)
I was a huge Sampras fan too! I was at his quarter final against Jim Courier when he broke down in tears about his coach's death and Jim asked if he wanted to come back the next day. Most memorable live sporting event ever!
And it was great to have Agassi around to test Sampras--such EPICS.
I definitely appreciate Nadal's presence. Federer is stunning to watch, but there is little suspense with anyone else.
YES! I only read about it. It was sucha dramatic match!!
I saw one Sampras/Agassi epic during the World Cup in Hannover, Germany. It was in the late nineties and I skipped school to go there. It was SO COOL. I also used to vacation to Paris to watch Pete at the French Open but he never lasted long! But it was always an awesome trip! :D
Man, those were the tennis days! We even had half-decent german players.
Heh, those are the sacrifices you have to bring. It's 2 pm here right now, so I am good. But tonight is the superbowl which I plan on watching with some friends and that will be around 1 am my time.
I have to be in school to intern at 8 am. :) That will be a tough day!! :D
Friend of mine and I are in chat watching it, even though it's before dawn over here. I think I may have to get coffee soon, despite how exciting the match is.
I love both players, but I'm leaning just a smidge in Rafa's direction, I have to admit.
I know,it was really sad.And everyone expected him to beat that Sampras record, there was much pressure on him I think...When he started crying during the ceremony,he broke my heart. :( And then Nadal went all *hugs* on him. Ah,these guys are really great.
I am in absolute awe that Rafa won. I was rooting for him (I always root for him) but I honestly didn't think he'd be able to recover enough to beat Fed...especially considering they went a full 5 sets! I'm just in awe. A great match all around.

I just hope he's recovered from the epic that was his semi.

Hoping for another great final.Although I'm concerned that Nadal will be dead-tired after that marathon of a semifinal...

But yes, I worry he will be tired.

Also,it sucks that the two semis were on different days...Not really fair.

Sampras/Agassi was EPIC! I was a HUGE Sampras-fan. :D
And they had matches. WOW. I always loved Wimbledon because Pete did well there. :D
I love Nadal because before him, no one could stop Federer and it's much more suspenseful now. :D
