I stopped watching dexter after season 4 (well specifically after the start of season 5), is it worth returning to?

It had some abysmal seasons ... you didn't miss much. I scraped my way through. But the end of Season 6 they actually made some brave steps in the writing, and are following through in Season 7 so far. I wouldn't bother watching 5 and 6 (maybe just the end of 6) but maybe?
