True Blood 2.08
Godric: Aiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee!!!! BEST. THING. EVER. (is absolutely NOT allowed to sacrifice himself to save vampires from suicide bombers)
Eric's love for Godric: :D (Sookie ships 'em! Woot!) Eric kind of mutually PWNed this episode--I feel like Eric + Godric = greater than the sum of their parts!
Tara: :((((((((( NOT HAPPY. Cannibalism-enduced domestic/sexual violence very rapey. NOT HAPPY.
Jessica: Oh, darling! My heart bleeds for you! Most moving part of story all season and beautifully played (also I heart the writing that allowed that to be a problem).
Godric: You know... other than totally PWNing the whole show... I do have one question: what the fuck was he doing at the Fellowship all that time? Treating it as a zen-retreat? o.O Writing seemed sloppy (Church!dude seemed to be on good terms with him but then he was all 'will not negotiate'?): suspect this comes direct from books?
Sam: Bored. Don't care.
Lafayette: They need to give you a plot, dude!
Jason: Rocking back into form: hooray! Loved the cathartic rage against being taken in by cult. Loved 'let her go, fuckwad!'
Bill: Also rocking back into form after boring!Maker let him go. TOO hilarious in his growliness and Bill/Jason hug hysterical.
Boring!Maker I am oddly sad to see you go. Combined with Bill you bring the boring, but on your own you intrigue me and frankly I feel like your plot raises some legit. issues about Sookie's relationship with Bill that were somewhat lost thanks to the Boring you brought with you. *conflicted*
As you can see, it was an episode that provoked some violent extremes of emotion in me.
Godric better not die. :( Eric alone = more boring. :(

They are my favorite thing in a long, long time. And I so agree with you. Godric better not die!

Also, the flashbacks with Lorena pointed out how much Bill has been lying to Sookie from the beginning with his "I only killed by accident when I was turned, but stopped once I knew better." As for what it might be foreshadowing for the Bill/Sookie relationship... I can only hope; I .. ummm... have BIG issues with how he treats her.
I too hated the Jessica/Eggs scene. awful, awful, awful. Though it was kind of funny how that was immediately followed by Lorena making comment about there being no excuse for domestic violence.
I loved how amused Eric was by Jason and by Bill attempting to pick a fight with him. GO ERIC! \o/

Yeah, I got that. It's rather heavy handed, but I can deal.
I have a really different take on Bill/Sookie than anyone I know who's read the books. I think Bill is a flawed individual but I don't see Sookie as a victim here. They're both very limited characters (all the charactes in the show are--and they use that very well). I don't want them to break up, I want them to hash it out.
Eric was very amusing with Bill yes. *nods* Bill's stubborn heterosexuality cracks me up.

*nods* It IS heavy handed, and I am amazed by how many people who are not getting it.
Bill in the books is less likable, but as charming as I find Stephen Moyer to be, I don't like his Bill either. I won't hash that out here; you like Bill/Sookie as a couple and I have no wish to harsh your squee. I don't think of Sookie as a victim, but I do find her to be really naive.

Sookie is chronically naive. We agree on that! I find both her and Bill comically so. I don't really take Sookie all that seriously as a character, which isn't really a good thing (and would be very different to being in her pov!), but it doesn't seem to dent my enjoyment of the show. :)

I have this ... let's call it a "condition", where I know that the show is crack, and derived from crack, but because it is HBO I still keep expecting it to get better. *shrug*

let's call it a "condition"
OMG! *clings* You have it too!! I thought I was the only one. It's like... it's probably the crackiest crack of all time (though I watch Smallville so that's a BIG call!) but even still I keep vastly overestimating it (like I expect twists) and then being brought down to earth with a thud. Plus, it's the only show I'm watching at the moment so all my hopes are pinned on it.

And Eric was finally, finally interesting (and the wee bit hot) to me this week. I actually even liked his chemistry with Sookie for a change.
Bill/Sookie still bore me. And I think the Maryann plot is dragging on without much change for far too long.

Maryann is dragging waaaaaaay too much. I basically don't give a shit about anything happening in Bon Temps right now--I just want it over with so we can move on. And I hate that it sucked my favourite character (Tara) into its vortex of boring...
but on the other hand: NEW FAVOURITE CHARACTER: GODRIC!!!!!
If he dies there will be blood.

Sorry I've been AWOL. I don't have a lot to say about TB this season for some reason!! I've been watching and maybe not paying attention as well as I could have been...a lot's been jammed into each episode but it wasn't till this week that I really that same "YEAH!" that happened frequently in S1.
I agree that the Bon Temps stuff has been freaky (and repetitive) and not all that interesting, yet I'm also excited that now everyone will be going home from Dallas and finding out what the heck is going on (I hope).
Someone had posted somewhere that they thought maybe Godric has a death wish. I could see that! Hope not though. (And I'm guessing that guy's bomb has to malfunction...because Sookie's right there in the mix of it all. Unless Eric like shields her/saves her somehow while Bill's outside with Boring!Maker.)

Yes! Sookie has to kick their asses out of her house! :D
I think Godric is ripe to be a martyr. I think Godric will super-speed him out of harm's way? Or possibly talk him down with his awesome prophet-like skills. I prefer the latter!

And the fact that Godric was dressed like Jesus Christ superstar, lol!
I think next week everything regarding Godric will make a bit more sense. Hopefully.
I cracked up SO hard when Bill ran in screaming "SOOOKEHHH!!" and then was just totally useless. Oh typical Bill. I'm sure even though Eric was in agony at the time he was still rolling his eyes.
Bill does amuse me by doing things like this but Eric is right, he's totally irrational. And not in a good way. It's like when he walked out into the sun to save Sookie last year. Seriously? Wtf would that do? You need a plan. I know he has good intentions but it always seems like he's trying really hard to make a "statement" without actually accomplishing anything. I doubt he realizes he's doing it though.

Jason's paintball marks on Steve representing the people who were marked as evil in Revelations.
Ohh! That one I'd missed! Thanks. I was puzzling over the significance of that for ages, because it was so very deliberate.
I'm SO NOT happy about martyr!Godric. I don't care if it makes sense or not.
I'm sure even though Eric was in agony at the time he was still rolling his eyes.
:D Absolutely! I love Bill's complete hopelessness. I love Eric's snark about it. And no, I don't think Bill has any self-awareness at all about the way he screams around trying to be the big hero when he's unable to be one. I find it hilarious/amusing to watch in the same way I find Jason hilarious to watch.
