Thanks for explaining your point of view on these eps. I know they were a sticking point for many people, so I was curious about your reading of them, and it's definitely helped me understand your perspective a lot better.

I adore Lex as well--though my feelings for him have shifted out of empathy, I still remain fascinated by him and I suspect he'll tug at my heartstrings again before the end. And I certainly think that his life HAS screwed him up emotionally--he's been the victim of some monstrous acts. However, he's an adult and like any abused adult has to take responsbility for his own actions and not hide behind abuse as an excuse. In the past I've given Lex a LOT of leeway--to some, I've definitely been viewed as a Lex apologist. However I do find his acts in both Cyborg and Aqua hard to stomach--just as I find his use of Duncan's lab notes repulsive. In Cyborg and Aqua it's not just what he does but the pleasure he takes in it, particularly in torture (and imo, it was torture to restrain Aqua).

But these things are so personal--our own morality and belief systems come into play. I'm glad, in a way, that Lex still has defenders, for these things are not black and white--what's crossing a line for me, is fine to someone else. So thanks. *g*
