Most of all, SCC is written by people that respect both their audience and the source material.

This may just be the most important distinction. I think SCC's show 'bible' must be way more detailed and acurate than BSG's ever was because SCC actually remembers, reacts to, and resolves plots/characters/actions. No randomly dropped plots or relationships, no making crap up to "fit" (I use that term loosely) the latest whim of the writing staff, etc.
